Unexpectedly sidelined
And we’re back after an unexpected 2-week illness. Yesterday was the first day that I was able to do any sustained work effort that actually accomplished anything. Bottom line is I am glad to be feeling better and looking forward to getting more done on the new SBS site!

Voices from the past
Over the last 6-8 weeks I have had near daily emails from prospects and former customers that I had not heard from in 2-5 years. Is this a sign the economy is improving? Are people back to spending money on their hobbies?
I have always found this part of the business fascinating. That it took some people years to send in some books to be bound.

New Cover
I am starting to document projects being prepped and sent to various binderies. Today’s project involves getting a new cover put on a book I purchased from an eBay auction. I didn’t care for the original cover but the interior content was hand-sewn and well crafted. So the end result will be a short video showing the before and after of the process.

Creative Concepts
I am in the process of roughing out 10 different variations of the Creative Concept for the new SBS site. I finished two of them over the weekend. Right now they are being reviewed by Tim, Paul and Richard.

Skype
As we ramp up the new SBS site, I have been doing practice runs of how we will interact and help our fellow comic book bookbinding fans. What happened to the Resource Center idea?
The short answer is that I couldn’t make it work without violating copyrights. Fair use is one thing but I what I wanted to do would have been far outside of fair use.
So by relaunching the Single Bound Studios site Tim and I hope to be a resource for helping people get their projects done.

Monthly Podcast
As I restart Single Bound Studios one of the new things that will be featured on the site is a Monthly Podcast focused on comic book binding projects.
Sometimes it will be an audio podcast and other times it will be a video podcast.

Starting Something New

Final update
The remaining 14 books will not be completed by Capitol Bindery. I retrieved the comics on November 16, 2012, got them packed and have shipped them back to the remaining customers. My main task is to follow up on the remaining books being worked on at Capitol Bindery. On Saturday I picked up one book that was having a correction made to it and two new books.
